My personal project will be making a fictional novel based on teenager issues. Teenagers are known for being complicated, because it’s a phase in their life where they learn about many things such as love, gaining general knowledge, building friendships, making memories, and most of all, discovering who they are. To cope with their complicated lives, I decided to make a novel where they can relate their problems to. Besides that I get the inspiration from my friends. I see that some of my friends feel like giving up in life just because of one problem they face. This makes me feel like I should make a story that also relates to their life because sometimes when one person tries to give an advice to another the other feels like the advice-giver doesn’t understand them.I also chose to write a fiction novel because I really love writing. Writing is one of many hobbies that I like, and it is one of the things I have started to love and practice since I was little. I was eight years old when I discovered the love of writing, and I felt like to develop this talent is to keep writing and writing. Hopefully this personal project can develop myself in terms of writing skills and can develop other people by helping them learn to enjoy their life no matter the amount of hardships they go through in their life.

The goal of this project is to make a fictional story that can be related to teenagers’ life, which includes friendship, family and love in order for teenagers to understand their social environment and surroundings. I think the best way to cope with life is to understand what’s around you, so that you don’t feel like it’s too difficult. To help others to live their life to the fullest, the fictional story is how I decide to express that help. The goal of this project is for teenagers, aged around 13 to 16. That’s where most of their complications start.

The area of interaction involved in this project is community and service. It discusses about how we live with each other in this world. It also discusses some of the personal things I have to face, like how teenagers my age or I myself contribute or how teenagers my age or I myself can help the community. It also helps teenagers to reflect their strengths and weaknesses, thus helping them continue their life with the positivity they hold.

I know I have achieved the goal by looking over the story one more time, perhaps also giving a mini survey to ask the opinions of others about whether or not they understood the morals and important points of the story. Besides that I should also check the expectations list or the standards for success. Some of the things in my expectations list include the external and internal needs for my story, like my story should be about 3000 words, 100 pages when in B5-size, printed in either paperback or hardcover, have a relative title, have at least 2 conflicts, have conversational language, have minor language mistakes, easy-to-understand plot, and written in first person perspective.

Start of Week 4 September	End of Week 4 September	- Begin making the exposition (introduction), chapter 1 to chapter 4. - List down the specific characteristics of each character to develop that character’s liveliness (do half of the characters).
Start of Week 1 October	End of Week 1 October	- Begin making the conflict, chapter 5 to chapter 6. - Continue and finish listing down the specific characteristics of each character.
Start of Week 2 October	End of Week 3 October	- Begin making the rising action, chapter 7 to chapter 8. - Put all the characteristic details in the story. - List down things that should be included in the climax.
October 23	-	Meet with supervisor to discuss progress.
October 30	-	Submit 2nd draft of analysis of information.
Start of Week 4 October	Mid-Week 2 November	- Begin the climax of the story, chapter 9. Finish in this time range.
Mid- Week 2 November	End of Week 3 November	- Begin the resolution of the story, finish in this time range.
Start of Week 4 November	End of Week 4 November	- Give to the supervisor for language checking. - Correct the errors and give 2nd draft to the supervisor for another language check. - Create a small survey while the supervisor checks.
Start of Week 1 December	Mid-Week 2 December	- E-mail the novel to 2 students every age (2 13-year-olds, 2 14-year-olds, 2 15-year-olds, 2 16-year-olds) and ask for their feedback, filling out a little survey.
December 11	-	Submit Evaluation of Progress
Mid-Week 2 December	End of Week 2 December	- Self-check for survey & story relativeness. - Self-check for other things that needs to be edited/added.
January 15	-	Meet supervisors and show the final story.

Standardization for Novel

My novel can be classified as a suitable or ‘good’ novel if it has these elements:
- Has at least B5-size 100 pages (50 A4 pages, split to 2).
- At least 3000 words.
- Written in first person perspective.
- Have at least 1 main character with developed characteristics.
- Has at least 2 conflicts, one dealing with family, one dealing with either love or friendship.
- Has a valuable moral.
- Has a relative title.
- Published in a digital printing company, in the form of either paperback or hardcover.
- Have conversational language. It shouldn’t be too formal because it will be read by teens.
- Should have very minor language mistakes, such as grammar and spelling.
- Should have an easy-to-understand plot, complete with series of events for each point.

*I won’t put too much expectations in this novel, because if there are too much then it will be slightly unrealistic.

Interview Results

SONIA (Global Warming Guidebook)
- What did you do (explain the steps)? I did some research about global warming, then I made a comic. After that I decide the plot and start drawing. Inside the book is information packed in a story, displayed as a comic.
- What are some of the problems you found? Plan change. My supervisor’s internet broke down and I couldn’t send it, so I had to re-make the plan from start.
- How did you face that problem? I changed all the plan and I had to do it very quickly.
- Any suggestions? Do not procrastinate!
- How can this project help others? The goal is to make teenagers more aware of the environment, specifically about issues of the environment.

TIAS (Somewhere Only We Know – Novel)
- What did you do (explain the steps)? I researched for 2 months, made a survey, interviewed people. I also read 5 novels within that research time.
- What are some of the problems you found? Time management, balancing school work and the PP work, and I faced some misunderstanding/miscommunication with my supervisor.
- How did you face that problem? I asked the supervisor and tried to communicate.
- Any suggestions? Don’t be lazy, and try to finish before February especially to fix language issues if you’re making a novel.
- How can this project help others? It’s to help teens understand their social environment.

IRENE (Cheese Crazed)
- What did you do (explain the steps)? I did a survey, I researched some recipes, I edited the recipes, I cooked each of the recipes and I re-edited it again to suit my community’s taste. I also included the recipe info and I printed the final work in a digital printing company.
- What are some of the problems you found? Time management. I had to rush. And some of the food I cooked was burnt.
- How did you face that problem? I re-cooked and force myself not to sleep.
- Any suggestions? When making the report, you have to start serious and focus.
- How can this project help others? It’s supposedly made to promote cheese for health.

Goal

To make teenagers more aware about their social environment, and to understand how to cope with life instead of being hopeless. I plan to do a fictional story that revolves around the theme of teenager issues.

Area of Interaction

The AOI involved for this goal is Community and Service. This is because the story will help people (especially teenagers) deal with life and to understand the social environment better.
